The other reason to move to Sydney seems that in my absence, the rental property market in Melbourne has gone to hell. It is the real deal and unlike the properties that I saw, worth waiting in a queue to get. If I could live inside a sandwich, it would be this one. Flame-grilled chunks of marinated pork meat sit atop pickled, shredded carrot and daikon (instead of green papaya); coriander leaf and stalks; spring onions and fresh chili. The bun is as fresh as you’d find anywhere on the streets of Saigon, the meat even fresher.
The restaurant’s name, Truc Giang, betrays its Southern Vietnamese origins.

My God Phil you’ve been in town two seconds and you’ve struck gold. You obviously know how to sniff out a good thing. Did you go to the Tet celebrations in Richmond today?
Nope. I’m out of town for the weekend but did get caught up in the build up to lunar new year. The streets were thick with lion dancers. Kung hei fat choi, y’all.

Did anyone read John Lethlean’s article over the weekend in The Age? he said his wife had turned into Bill – LOL! He had to burn the cookbook in order to exorcise the beast resplendent with catch-phrases.
